Which patients need to reduce their dose of Filitr

Filitra 20 (Vardenafil) is a medication typically used to treat erectile dysfunction. The dose may need to be adjusted for some patients due to various factors such as underlying health conditions, age, and interactions with other medications. Older adults may require a lower dose due to decreased liver function and changes in metabolism, which can affect the drug's clearance from the body. A lower dose (e.g., 10 mg or 5 mg) is often recommended for elderly patients.

Those with moderate to severe liver impairment (e.g., cirrhosis or hepatitis) should start with a lower dose of Filitra or avoid it altogether. The liver metabolizes vardenafil, so reduced liver function can lead to higher Filitra 20 mg drug concentrations and an increased risk of side effects. Renal (kidney) function also impacts how vardenafil is cleared from the body. Patients with severe kidney impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min) should receive a lower dose or avoid Filitra.

Drugs that inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir, itraconazole) can increase vardenafil levels in the blood. For patients taking these medications, a lower dose of Filitra is generally recommended.
